SOCIAL MEDIA CONSIDERATIONS/ISSUES

Technological Issues 💻:

With the frequency of updates across social media platforms, anyone who has a hard time keeping up with technology and navigating websites or apps may encounter a lot of problems trying to use social media.  Usually new user updates rely on the user being able to adapt to the new functions, but this is not realistic for everyone.

Privacy Issues 👀:

It's important that people who use social media know how to access settings regarding privacy. The issue with certain sites such as Facebook is that you can't see what your profile looks like to other people. This means that if you accidentally have your privacy settings fully public, you may not be aware of how much information others can access. Also posting photos of your home town, car or pets can help people figure out security questions that other sites ask you to set up in case you want to change your passwords. This exposes you to the possibility that someone may be able to access your non-social sites.

Social Issues 🙊: 

The nature of social media is that you are connecting to people all over the world through the comfort of your own home. This creates a false sense of comfort and confidence online that can result in people being more confrontational online than they would in person and this can create hostile and very harmful arguments and insults. It's important for people's mental health to remember that social media is warped in this sense and often doesn't actually reflect real life.
