WHAT ARE SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS?

Facebook 💙: Primarily used by individuals, groups and businesses to share a mixture of posts such as text, pictures, links to articles, videos, etc. It also allows users to create private chats with one another and also allows you to interact with contacts' posts by commenting, using an emoji reaction or sharing it to your other friends.

Instagram 💜: Primarily focused on posting and sharing pictures amongst contacts. There is a large amount of fashion, photography and art being showcased on this app, but is also used by individuals with a large following (such as celebrities) and their profiles often include sponsored ads and product placement.

YouTube 💗: Used to view videos uploaded by other users. There is a growing amount of content on this site (approx. 720 000 hours of video uploaded daily) and the content varies heavily depending on who posts it. Like other social media platforms it is a mix of individuals, groups and businesses posting content.

Snapchat 💚: This platform allows you to send pictures and videos directly to friends, but the gimmick is that these pictures and videos, once opened, will disappear once viewed. It is used more heavily for individual communication however businesses do have official accounts posting daily updates as well.

Pinterest 💛: This platform allows you to create and share "Boards" with different themes in the hope of inspiring you in some way or another. It allows you to take pictures and links from anywhere online and post them to your "Boards" to create a good collection of inspiration. This is very personalised as the platform will also suggest new posts from other users with similar boards. Subjects vary massively depending on your tastes and what you use it for. For example, I have an "Outfit Ideas", "Hair Tutorials", "Recipes" and "Interior Design" boards just to name a few.
